Signs That Your Car Needs A Tune-Up
If recently your vehicle has been acting up
and being sluggish, unreliable or squealing to no end, then it's just telling
you something- it is time for a tune-up.
Your car should be serviced regularly and
paying attention to the signs is always more economical rather than replacing a
vehicle.
But if you are still unable to know the
warning signs that your car is in a dire need of service, check these symptoms:
·
Warning
lights- Modern cars are usually good at telling you when it needs to be checked.
If the little indicator on your dashboard lights up when you start the car and
if it stays illuminated; it indicates a problem with a vehicle component. One
thing to remember here is, fully illuminated check engine light may just
indicate a minor concern but a flashing light means your car needs a visit to
the garage. Also, check whether any
other lights are on, for example, oil light. If it is, then the issue may be
more serious. Diagnosing and fixing even a minor problem can help you avoid a
costlier problem down the road.
·
Loud
noises- Noises can be another indication that you need to get your car checked,
if your brakes are squeaking or you feel a vibration when you press it, there
is a good chance that something is wrong. A shrill whine from under the bonnet
may be caused by a loose belt which can cause a plethora of issues. In short,
if you hear any new unmerciful noise coming from your car, you should get it
checked before it turns into a serious problem.
·
Smoke-
A smoke from the bonnet is caused by either overheating or problems with the
radiator. If you notice a blue smoke when your car is running, it is
recommended to stop the car immediately and call a mechanic, a blue smoke is
caused by burning oil and if left unfixed can be dangerous as well as burn a
hole in your pocket. Excessive smoke from exhaust indicates oil leak too.
·
Low
mileage- If you have been more frequent to the gas station, filling your gas
tank for the same distance, your car might be experiencing a depletion in fuel
mileage. A sudden plunge in the fuel mileage indicates that your vehicle isn't
operating efficiently. It may also indicate low tire pressure or just a time
for a tune-up.
